Maintaining A Healthy Lifestyle

Your body needs the right fuel to work properly and run efficiently.  When fuel sources are out of balance, or if the wrong fuel is introduced into your system, certain parts will not function correctly.  Like any other machine, when one part doesn’t work like it should, the other parts also break down.

If you are having difficulty with depression, lowered immunity, heart disease, anemia, memory loss, or other conditions, your body may be deficient in some nutrients.  Proper nutrition may greatly reduce or alleviate some health problems.

Maintaining a healthy diet is a vital step to improving your lifestyle.   Eating properly is not something you should do for a while until you “get results”; it’s not about “going on a diet”.  It’s about changing the way you use and think about food.  You may not be able to make all of your diet changes suddenly, or at the same time.   Week by week, you can replace one or two unhealthy foods with better choices.

Another aspect of healthy living that cannot be overlooked is moderation.   Too much or too little of anything will cause an imbalance.  Learn to tell yourself “This is enough”, and then stop.  This, of course, is easier said than done.  It may be necessary to join a support group, or get some counseling, if you use substances or do activities that you cannot control.     

Anything that you can’t control is controlling you.   You can be free of addictions to food, drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, etc.  Don’t be ashamed to ask for help.  It is better to ask, and be free, than to live your life as a prisoner.  You can change your behavior.  Even if you have tried before, try again.  Complete successes at first attempts are rare, whether you are letting go of a destructive behavior, or learning a new behavior.  Give yourself time.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind….
